Development of international connections is one of the fundamental factors guaranteeing proper operation of a modern school of higher education. The Karol Lipiński Academy of Music actively maintains multi-layered and comprehensive international cooperation. Thanks to satisfying all the European standards in respect of its educational system, the school acquired the so-called Erasmus University Charter, which enables it to participate in the EU Erasmus scholarship programme. When applying for the document it submitted an Erasmus Policy Statement, a declaration of a policy favourable to the inter-university exchange of students and teachers. The Academy’s first foreign Erasmus partner was the Dutch university school of music Hogeschool Enschede, which began awarding scholarships to its students as early as the 1990's. Since then the Academy has acquired other exchange partners and the number of partner institutions currently exceeds 30schools from 16 countries. This also includes schools with which the Academy has been cooperating since 2004/2005 within the CEEPUS scholarship programme ‘New cooperation initiatives in the Central European professional music training’. Under the Erasmus and CEEPUS schemes students and teachers receive scholarships to go abroad and the school welcomes foreign students to Wrocław and organizes courses and lectures by teachers from abroad.

The Academy has not abandoned its traditional forms of cooperation based on bilateral partner agreements; it has such arrangements with university schools of music from St. Petersburg, Lviv, Munich, Plovdiv, Moscow and Minsk. Every year the Academy also makes a student concert exchange with foreign centres situated in the same geographical region: Dresden, Weimar and Ostrava.

The school is a member of Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen [European Association of Conservatoires], which groups over 200 university schools of music. The Academy plays an active role in AEC activities regarding both the content of teaching and the organization of the education system, because as a partner to EU programmes the Association stimulates work on improving the system of university music education in Europe.

The Academy takes care of its international position, which is reflected in the fact that it joined the Study in Wrocław Consortium, a body of all state universities in Wrocław. The Consortium has two objectives: to promote the city and the local universities as places of study for foreign youth, and to prepare for implementation of English-language paths of education which will provide students with the opportunity to take courses at any of the associated universities, including the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music, in English as the primary teaching language. Its is thus working on making the vision of a multi-language Academy, joining various cultures with the universal language of music, come true.
